Introducing New Voodoo Design Center Exit Exhaust for McLaren 650S and 12C Models
At Voodoo Design, we eagerly await the opportunity to develop a new exhaust system for the McLaren 650S and MP412C models. We are excited to announce that our wait is finally over! Recently, we were fortunate enough to have a friend, Drew Peacock – a popular YouTube personality – lend us his McLaren MP412C so that we could use it to design and test our new, highly anticipated Voodoo Design Center Exit Exhaust. We are excited to share a selection of behind-the-scenes photos that provide an in-depth look at the development process.
Rear X-Pipe Exhaust Section
The development process for our new exhaust system was meticulous, as we wanted to ensure that it met the high standards that our customers have come to expect from us. We started by designing the rear exhaust section to exit in the middle of the bumper, incorporating an x-pipe design to merge the exhaust gases.
The X-pipe helps equalize the pressure between the left and right sides of the exhaust system. This helps reduce back pressure, improves exhaust flow, and increases horsepower and torque. In addition, an X-pipe helps give the exhaust a more aggressive sound.
This piece is compatible with the factory downpipes or our Voodoo Design High-Flow Catalytic Converters or Bypass Pipes, depending on the desired level of performance. We also included intricately laser-cut brackets with a signature honeycomb design.
Rear Bumper Grille & Tips
Next, we developed a large exhaust grille cover with two openings in the middle for the exhaust tips This cover incorporates a honeycomb design and fits below the tail lights for a factory-like appearance. Finally, we developed the double-walled exhaust tips to provide strength and durability.
Completed Project
After outfitting Drew's McLaren with our new Voodoo Design Center Exit Exhaust and pairing it with our Voodoo Bypass Pipes for maximum flow, we also installed an M Engineering ECU Tune to optimize the performance of the vehicle. The results were impressive – the MP412C now has a much more updated design, similar to that of the factory McLaren 675LT and McLaren 765LT models.
